Born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Raquel began her professional dance studies in School for the Performing Arts; dancing a wide variety of styles such as classical ballet, jazz, contemporary, hip hop, tap and musical theatre. She performed in various works across the island, including Cabaret Le Freak and Cabaret Le Freak ‘Coming Together’. In NYC, she received her BFA at Marymount Manhattan College and continued to train in Broadway Dance Center, Steps on Broadway, and Ballet Arts. She is also a recipient of ABT’s Project Plié NTC Scholarship for teaching underprivileged kids ballet in Harlem Heights and is now an ABT Certified Teacher.
As a corps de ballet artist at American Liberty Ballet for four seasons, she performed a variety of principal and soloists roles. She danced Chinese, Snow and Flowers in Dances Patrelle’s 25th anniversary Yorkville Nutcracker and was invited to perform in Amazon’s ‘Together at Home’ show with Latin Pop Artist, Goldilocks. Most recently, she completed Complexions Contemporary Ballet Pre-Professional program where she got to perform with the company during their season at The Joyce Theatre.
