Established in 2019 by Artistic Director Joan Liu, Axons Dance Theatre is a contemporary ballet company based in New York that strives to encourage communication through the art of dance. The repertoire aims to be a bridge and blur the boundaries between disciplines, race, sex, dance genres, social economical standings…etc.

Since its launch, Axons Dance Theatre has been invited to perform at International Human Rights Festival, Dance Astoria, 7MPR Midnight Performances, CounterPointe by Norte Maar, Salon Performance Series by Mark DeGarmo Dance, NACHMO, Fertile Ground Series by Greenspace, Ballet Arts Showcases…etc. as well as self-produced a full show at Manhattan Movement and Arts Center in June 2022.

Axons Dance Theatre is participating in Giving Tuesday for the first time this year! On November 29th, our Giving Tuesday donation will open. Mark your calendar! This is the time where we all come together to unleash the power of generosity. We are setting a goal of 1.5k for our first year participating. This will help us pay for the venue rental deposit and initial costuming costs. Any additional funds raised will be added to artists’ stipend.

Would you like to see us perform more often? Make sure to check out our “upcoming” page to see us at various festivals! Curious about what others have to say about us? Check out our “press” page. If you are able, would you consider donating to help us put on bigger scale performances like this more often? Your gift is fully tax-deductible and will help us bring our art to a wider audience.

Axons Dance Theatre is a sponsored artist with The Performance Zone Inc (dba The Field), a not-for-profit, tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) organization serving the performing arts community.
